Solar Panel Company Stock Up on Earnings

Camarillo, Calif.’s Power-One (PWER, makes products that convert direct current electricity from solar panels and wind turbines to the alternating current needed to feed the power grid. The company was expected to report earnings of a penny a share for the March quarter but delivered 4 cents. Revenue grew 56% for the quarter to $152 million. Shares trade for 19 times the 45-cent estimate for earnings over the next 12 months.

Advance Auto Parts Earning Surprise

Harley Davidson Stock Soars on Earnings Surprise

American icon motorcycle manufacturer Harley-Davidson (NYSE: HOG) shares roared Tuesday, rising more than 8.5% after the company announced stronger-than-expected earnings results for the first-quarter.
Milwaukee-based Harley-Davidson, Inc. reported earnings of $33.3 million, or 14 cents a share, down from $117.3 million, or 50 cents a share, in the year-ago period.
Net revenue dropped to $1.04 billion from $1.28 billion as motorcycle sales continued falling.

Bed Bath and Beyond Earning Surprise

Bed Bath and Beyond (NASDAQ: BBBY) said Wednesday night (post-close) that fourth-quarter earnings rose 56% year over year to 86 cents per share, easily trumping analysts’ expectations of 73 cents. Revenue rose 16.7% from last year, also exceeding what Wall Street was hoping for. Finally, same-store sales grew 11.5% in the period, versus a 4.3% decline last year at this time. Looking forward, BBBY officials said they expect earnings to grow 10%-15% in fiscal year 2011. So it is clear that the American consumer is continuing to spend (at least on towels, kitchen supplies, and candles).

AMD Buy Reiterated at UBS

FedEx Corp. shares rose in pre-market trades Tuesday after the delivery giant raised its outlook for second-quarter earnings on increased demand for its international services as well as its cost-cutting efforts.

FedEx (FDX 89.59, +2.07, +2.37%) boosted its profit target to $1.10 a share from its previous estimate of 65 cents to 95 cents a share. The Memphis, Tenn.-based company earned $1.58 a share in the same quarter a year ago.
